Bussing it to Success
GLASSROBOTS OY has made a journey to success within bus windscreen production technology in China. The company has supplied bus windscreen production techniques to several leading Chinese manufacturers.

Glassrobots road to success began in 1999 when the company made a contract with Luoyang Glass Processing Company for the delivery of a bus windscreen bending furnace. The customer in question is a subsidiary of one of China's oldest glass producers, Luoyang Float Glass.

One of Glassrobots strong points, according to Mr. Li Wei, Safety Glass Plant Manager, were various references to suppliers all around the world. Luoyang manufactures bus windscreens both for Chinese and imported buses.

Changzhou Industrial Technical Glass in Jiangsu Province ordered a serial six-chamber bending furnace for bus windscreens in 2001. Based on long-term business relationship Glassrobots was one of the strongest supplier candidates from the start and won the open tendering process. In this furnace Glassrobots used for the first time in China a so-called middle support technique that enables better glass support before the bending process. 60% of the production earlier made with 12 single chamber furnaces could be transferred to the new furnace. This freed staff for other tasks and dropped energy consumption levels by a third compared to production before the new furnace was installed.

In 2002, the Glassrobots success story continued as one of China's largest windscreen manufacturers, Shenzen Xinyi Autoglass, ordered the biggest bus windscreen furnace in China, a ten-chamber serial furnace. This particular furnace can bend a windscreen with a maximum. size of 2100 x 3300 mm. Xinyi Autoglass is an experienced windscreen processor that already operated a serial bending furnace. However, they were not able to bend all the new models with their existing furnaces and asked Glassrobots to deliver the newest technology for making the designs in question. Glassrobots was happy to take up the gauntlet and the new furnace was installed at the Xinyi factory in August 2002. It has been used in production since September 2002.

Mr Tung , Managing Director of Xinyi Group (Glass) Co. Ltd commented as follows: "Glassrobots has a clear advantage in bus windscreen bending furnaces with vertical adjustable heating elements and their FuzzyBend control system. After having operation experience from the first delivery. we decided to order two more furnaces for improving our bus windscreen production."

From a single furnace to a complete production line
Shenzhen Benxun Automotive Glass Co. Ltd.. a subsidiary of China Southern Glass. began extending their product range by ordering a complete production line for the production ofbus windscreens. The German Olbricht. delivers the preprocessing equipment, while Glassrobots sees to the bending and laminating operations. This is the China Southern Glass Group's first complete production line for bus windscreens. The production line will be fully operational at the end of 2002.

The above are pioneering projects for Glassrobots bus windscreen technology. Glassrobots has achieved clear status of a market leader as a supplier of bending technology to China's vast windscreen market. China's economy keeps on growing, so does the production of transport vehicles. As a result, Glassrobots is definitely on the bus. Next stop: success in China!!!
