Tooling Technology

The Tooling Technology developed by Glassrobots is a definite solution for oversized mold storage and high tooling costs. It offers the following clear advantages compared to the existing bending systems.

Top quality

  • Continuous measuring of glass temperature together with a new, patented mold system results in products with superior optical quality
  • The system also allows the bending of pyrolytic-coated glass without problems
  • The best shape accuracy in the industry guarantees easy lamination and accurate installation of insulating glasses
  • Heavy, large and thick glasses can be bent easily
  • The system enables the bending of parallelogram-shaped glass (e.g. rail elements for spiral staircases)

Lower costs

  • Lower storage costs; the storage capacity needed is only 1/10 of that required in a traditional system
  • Lower manufacturing costs; most of the machine's components are the same for every radius
  • Reduced breakage during bending, because the glass support is stable
  • Reduced need for service
  • Excellent durability; only a few wearing components, all replaceable
  • Risk of breakage of curved glass is decreased, because the glass is homogeneous in quality and uneven tensions do not exist

New applications, new opportunities

  • The system enables bending of pyrolytic coated glasses irrespective of the orientation (both convex and concave)
  • The production of single pieces and small lots is economical
Tooling system

The tooling system forms an independent package that can be used in any Glassrobots furnace. The tooling for a specific radius is assembled from separate components by one person. No auxiliary equipment is required for assembly.

The change over is fast; only the shape specific parts of the system need to be replaced, while other components are the same for every radius. Due to the small storage space needed, all shape specific parts can be stored just beside the furnace, where they are readily available.
